  How to install laravel 5.0

Introduction of Laravel & MVC
Laravel 5 is one of the most popular PHP frameworks, and it follows the MVC pattern. It is an Open Source framework. It has a very rich set of functionality, which will increase the speed of website development work. If you know PHP well, then Laravel 5 will make your task easier.

MVC stands for Model View Controller. The model view controller pattern is the most used patterns for today’s world web applications. The MVC pattern separates an application in 3 modules: Model, View, Controller.

  • The Model is responsible for business logic.
  • The View is responsible for displaying the data provided by the model in a specific format.
  • The Controller handles the model and view layers to work together.

Installing Laravel 5 Using Composer

Before installing Laravel via composer, you will need to make sure you have Composer and WAMP/XAMPP Server installed on your machine.

I have installed my WAMP server in "C" drive, I will use Composer via command prompt

Step 1:- First, you have to open a command prompt and move to your WAMP server directory "www".
Step 2:- Run the below composer's command to download the laravel.

composer create-project laravel/laravel your-root-directory-name "~5.0.0" --prefer-dist

For the installation purpose I used my root directory of laravel as laravel5app, you can also use the same, if you want different name you are free to do that also.

Once installed, you should upgrade to the latest packages. First, remove {your-root-directory-name}/vendor/compiled.php file then change your current directory to {your-root-directory-name} and use composer update command to update the latest packages.

composer update

If you face Composer Update Failure due to GitHub Authorization, then click here to see the solution.

Once updating the latest packages is completed, Try to open the home URL (http://localhost/laravel5app), you will see the following screen in the browser, which indicates that Laravel 5 has installed successfully.
